Hello! I am Molly and in this blog I will be telling my readers about some of the most magnificent and unique animals all around the world. The Animal Kingdom is spectacular. There is an amazingly impressive amount of variety in so many different animal families.
Today, I will be informing my readers about the Red-lipped batfish, also known as the Galapagos fish. This fish is found around the Galapagos islands and off the coast of Peru. You might be surprised to know that a few Red-lipped batfish have been found off the coast of California in fish nets. Red-lipped batfish are usually found on the ocean floor in the sand of reefs. The bat fish are unfortunately not very good swimmers, so they use their pectoral, pelvic, and anal fins to move around. It almost looks as if they are “walking” on the ocean floor. Red-lipped batfish consume their diet by mainly feeding on other small fish and invertebrates. You will be happy to know that as of right now, there are no known predators for the batfish. And they are no where close to extinction they are in the “least concern” category. So, it looks like the Red-lipped batfish will be around for a while.
